Plaster: types and features of finishing mixtures (HIRING CONSTRUCTORS OF FINISHERS KERSON)
Finishing materials in the modern market are presented in a huge assortment. Today, stucco is especially popular - a special substance that can be used to align walls, fill cracks and bumps, as well as decorate a room.
Due to its attractive appearance and a long period of operation, such building material is quite in demand. With its help it is possible to create various visual effects, imitate the surface, apply an original pattern to embody the most daring design decisions.
By appointment, such a finishing material is divided into coating and structural. The first option is used during preparation for further cladding, exclusively for rough work. In the second case, the product is used as a topcoat.
The main advantage of plaster is the ability to protect the wall from all kinds of adverse effects (accidental bumps and chips, high humidity, the formation of fungus and mold), which increases the useful period of operation of the room. There are several varieties of this material.
Depending on the type of surface obtained in the final result, distinguish:
- Flock coating is a colored crumb, which must first be mixed with a special adhesive, and then applied to the wall. Flocks are fine particles of various shapes, colors and sizes, made of acrylic. They can be metallized, monochrome, fluorescent and color, which opens up great prospects for creativity.
- Venetian plaster consists of many components based on lime and marble flour. It is able to decorate any interior and turn it into a work of art.
- "Liquid wallpaper" consists of natural fibers (silk, cotton), special dyes, cellulose, plasticizers, natural fungicides, pearly inclusions, etc. They are characterized by an astringent structure, therefore they are easy to apply and hold well.
- Structural - resembles a fine-grained mass, since small pebbles and wood fiber are present in the composition. Minerals, silicates, latex and other binders are added as a base.
By the type of effect obtained, textured and decorative plaster are distinguished. In the first case, the surface takes on a relief and becomes voluminous, and in the second, a play of shades, unusual overflows and radiance are created.
Depending on the composition that serves as a binder, mineral, polymer, silicate and silicone substrates are distinguished.
Mineral plaster contains lime, colored clay and crushed pebbles. This option is very economical in consumption, excellent for thermal insulation. It can be used both for interior decoration and for facade work. It is characterized by increased resistance to temperature changes, mechanical damage and precipitation.
Polymer - forms a thin decorative coating, is used for internal and external works. It requires thorough processing of the substrate before application (cleaning from dirt and dust, degreasing, primer). It is characterized by a low degree of vapor permeability, so it can be used in rooms with high humidity.
Silicate plaster - has high ductility, resistance to pollutants, frost and moisture resistance, fire safety. It maintains a comfortable indoor microclimate.
Silicone - differs in the extended term of operation, wear resistance, durability and elasticity. It protects the facade from dirt, solar radiation and moisture. It perfectly attaches to any base, stretches well and eliminates defects and cracks in concrete.
When choosing one or another option, always pay attention to the instructions and technical specifications. The application technique may vary depending on which plaster is in front of you.
